September’s Top 5 Wednesday’s

September’s Top 5 Wednesday’s were really hard for me to do single posts each week, that I decided to have them all together.

Friendship Groups (5th September)

- Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and The Weasley Family
I loved the friendship of everyone involved, even if they had a small part

- Adele and Kamryn
    - My Best Friends Girl
    - Dorothy Koomson
Yes the friendship for a while was based on lies and then went bad, but Adele knew she wanted Kamryn to look after Tegan, and subconsciously Kamryn knew she’d look after Tegan long term once she found out about Adele’s illness.

Books For My Younger Self (12th September)
Books that I wish I had forced myself to read when I was younger for a life lesson, more confidence or open my eyes.

Honestly I was never really a massive book reader in my teen years. If I wanted to read a book I would read it. If a book looked interesting I would have picked it up.

Classics I Wish Had A Modern Adaptation (19th September)

- Anne Frank’s Diary
Ok, I know The Diary of Anne Frank isn’t fiction but it would be interesting to see how people in places like Iraq or Afghanistan dealt with the war.

- The Great Gatsby
I’d absolutely love to see the Great Gatsby set in England. Not London England but somewhere along the south coast in like the early 2000’s

Favourite Covers Update (26th September)

- Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
It’s such a beautiful cover. All the details are to die for.

- The Brighton Mermaid
It’s just so simple. And I like book covers that are just so simple. It’s also very much a Brighton kind of cover.

- Dorothy Koomson Books
Some of Dorothy’s earlier books have different covers depending on where they are published.

Books I DNF’d || Top 5 Wednesday

Welcome to a Top 5 Wednesday

It’s a pretty short post because all the books on this list I have DNF’d because I couldn’t get into them when I read them.

I do plan on at some point to read them. But when I did it just wasn’t working out.

This months T5W is all freebie, so I could choose what previous post to do.
- Just Listen
- Sense and Sensibility
- Jane Eyre
- Lola and The Boy Next Door

Favourite Romance Novels

Ok so this is supposed to be a top 5 Wednesday in February but just never posted it
I am not a fan of romance novels at all. But these are books that I like where love is the main storyline

- Safe Haven

If you have ever read a Nicholas Sparks book or seen a movie based on a book by him then you know that he is like the king πŸ‘‘ of love stories. Out of the two books that I’ve read by him Safe Haven is by far my favourite book of his. (I even love the movie. And think it’s better than The Notebook).

- My Life Next Door

I like when two characters are polar opposites to each other. With My Life Next Door you couldn’t get two people who are so different.

- The Great Gatsby

It’s something about this book that I love. I did the wrong thing and watched the movie first but when I read the book I didn’t see the movie in the book.

- One Day
So I know this book is a lot to do with friendship rather than romance but the underlying theme of the book is love.

Forgettable Books T5W

Welcome to Top 5 Wednesday. It feels like forever since I’ve done one. January is a tough month for me to do Top 5 Wednesday, because a lot of them coincide with some of the Top Ten Tuesday’s, or I’ve already done some post like it. Today’s T5W is all on forgettable books.

- Friend Me

I remember reading it years ago, and literally mean years ago but that’s all I remember.

- PS I Love You

Like always I went through a stage where I wants to read all the books by the same author. After reading PS I Love You I remember thinking that. I ended up getting four more books by the same and reading them but I can’t remember what happened in any of them.

- A Place Called Here

I know I’ve read it but can’t remember much about it.

- The Host

    - Stephenie Meyer

I remember getting the book years ago from Costco. It was around the time everyone was going m crazy over Twilight. Yet I keep forgetting I have it. Mainly because it sits on a bookshelf where I keep the autobiographies I own because it’s too big to sit on the main part of my book shelf.

T5W Books I Didn’t Get To in 2017

Welcome to Top 5 Wednesday. Or part 2 of books that I meant to get to in 2017 but didn’t.

This is part 2 of the Books I Didn’t Get To in 2017 You can see part 1 HERE.

The Next Best Thing
I forgot I had the book until recently. I knew I had it last year but forgot about it.

Great Expectations
I wanted to read the book but didn’t because I always have a hard time when it comes to classics.

PS I Love You
Even though it would have been a re read it’s been years since I last read it and I wanted to read it again but never got around to it. I think mainly because it was on a second book shelf that I don’t tend to look πŸ‘€ at that much.

The Coldest Girl In Coldtown
The amount of times that I have just skipped over the book is insane.

Blogmas Day 20 5 Books Of The Year

Welcome to day 20 of blogmas, How I have done a blog everyday so far I am shocked with  myself

- The Ice Cream Girls
The Ice Cream Girls is about two girls Poppy and Serena, who knew each other as teenagers during their affair with their married teacher Marcus, who is murdered. Poppy went to jail while Serena lived her life, got married and had children. After she is released Poppy tries to get Serena to confess that she killed Marcus and Poppy believes she didn’t.

I know I did a whole post on this Books a few days ago, but the book really hit home just how important it is to show that relationships between teachers and students don’t work, how the justice system can be flawed, race can be used against people.

- Goodnight, Beautiful
Nova will do anything for her best friend Mal who she has known since childhood. So when Mal and his wife Stephanie ask nova to be a surrogate she agrees despite her resovations which turn out true as halfway through the pregnancy when Stephanie changes her mind. 8 years later nova is anxiously waiting for her son Leo to wake up from a coma, Stephanie is trying to save her childless marriage

This book shows struggles with mental health, infertility and so much more. It raises questions that no one would want to answer but think about. It shows just how far many people will go to for those that they love

- The Pact

For eighteen years the Hartes and the Golds have lived next door to each other, sharing everything from Chinese food to chicken pox to carpool duty-- they've grown so close it seems they have always been a part of each other's lives. Parents and children alike have been best friends, so it's no surprise that in high school Chris and Emily's friendship blossoms into something more. They've been soul mates since they were born. So when midnight calls from the hospital come in, no one is ready for the appalling truth: Emily is dead at seventeen from a gunshot wound to the head

What I like about the book was that these families have gone through so much together yet when something bad happens to them both the slip away, even though the thing was way out of their hands

- Just One Day
When sheltered American good girl Allyson "LuLu" Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

I loved this book, even the second time around reading it. I love it more then book 2.

- Cinder

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future. (Goodreads)

Like many people I was exited to see a different retelling of Cinderella. And I wasn’t disappointed. I loved the book. I thought it was fantastic.

- Safe Haven
Erin is a woman who is married to an abusive alcoholic who happens to be a police officer. One day she leaves and ends up in a small North Carolina town where she meets Alex and his two children. Over the course of the book she falls in love with Alex.

I freaking love the book. With most love stories it’s hard to get into for me. I know what’s going to happen. But with this one even though I knew what was going to happen I still loved it.

Blogmas Day 13 || Top 5 Wednesday || Characters on the Naughty List

Welcome to day 13 of Blogmas. Today is all about characters on the naughty list and another Top 5 Wednesday

- Lara Jean
For the simple fact that I just didn’t like her at all. I found her to be annoying, stuck up, selfish. Just so blah.

- Greyback
He just freaks me out. I have no other reason then that

- Bella from Twilight
Come on. It’s Bella. She’s annoying and boring all in one and that’s coming from a series of books that are just plain bad

- Anastasia 50 Shades if Grey
For the simple fact that she is based on Bella. I never knew anyone could have been as bad as Bella until Ana came along

Blogmas Day 6 I'm So Grinch About This

Welcome to day  6 of blogmas. Today is a Top 5 Wednesday all about bookish things are grinch about. This can be stuff about covers, dumb tropes,

  • When Bookmarks Go All Flimsy
I love bookmarks. Well now anyways. But I have this one that I really love but it's gone all flimsy at the top where it sticks out the top of the book

  • Dog Ear Corners
I used to dog ear the corners of my books when I was younger.  Now I hate looking at the marks that they made.

  • Obvious Book/Movie Similarities
I'm not talking about when a book is made into a movie but when books and moves are completely different time frame and they are so similar
I think the biggest culprit of this is Beneath the Glitter by Elle and Blair Fowler and the movie Material Girls with the Duff sisters.

  • Book Hauls
Everyone seems to do monthly book Hauls.  I know they get books sent to them by publishers and what have you, but seriously when they get to be more then you posting a review then it annoys me.

  • When People Say Twilight is Better Then Harry Potter
Everything about that is just wrong. It's Harry Potter all the way.

Top 5 Wednesday || November 22nd: Books I Am Thankful For

Ok so I should have done a post the first weekend of October on books that I am thankful for, as that was when Canadian thanksgiving was, I had it already to go, and then instead of hitting publish I deleted it.  Yep. Full on hit delete and boom it's gone. I was so mad at myself. So this one is a

  • My Best Friends Girl
The book shows so many stereotypes still happen with curtain things that should be gone. It's a book that is close to my heart because of adoption. I'm thankful that it shows forgiveness because sometimes forgiving people can be hard.

  • The Devil Wears Prada
I'm thankful for The Devil Wears Prada because I know it's a book that can get me out of any and all of my reading slumps.

  • The Ice Cream Girls
The book is one that a lot of people should read.  It deals with topics that are happening everyday.  I'm thankful because someone has written it.  It's beautifully written and flips stereotypes around

  • Harry Potter
Just because it's Harry Potter.

Top 5 Wednesday || November 8th: Problematic Faves

Welcome to my Top 5 Wednesday in what seems like forever. Finally I have found topics again that I liked enough to do

  • Draco Malfoy
He was a complete dick through most of the books but I really liked him. I am a sucker for a bad boy.

  • Bellatrix
I really like Bellatrix there is something about her that gives her the edge of I shouldn't like her but do

  • Dexter
When I first read one fan I didn't like Dexter but re reading it lately I really like him. He was a complete dick for most of the book but he had such charm

  • Miranda
I love  The Devil Wears Prada, and Miranda is one of those characters that you want to hate because of her hard nosed appearance and they way she treats people but I can't help but love her.

Top 5 Wednesday Books You've Read Because of Booktube/Blogging

Welcome to another Top 5 Wednesday. It feels like ages since I've done one.

The Fault In Our Stars
  • John Green
Every one was talking about The Fault in our Stars . I picked it up and while I liked the book it was one of those books that the hype up was massive. Everyone seemed to talk about it

To All The Boys I've Loved Before
  • Jenny Han
To All The Boys I've Loved Before was one of those books πŸ“š that I wanted to love because of all the recommendations but couldn't.

Fan Girl
  • Rainbow Rowell
Back in late 2013 early 2014 everyone was raving about Fan Girl. And because of them all raving about it I picked it up.  Was it great. Not really it was ok.

One Day
  • David Nichols
My aunt came over and visited about 6 years ago and was reading the book. She left it and I have read it a few times since and have actually enjoyed it more.

Animal Farm
  • George Orwell
The first booktuber that I watched was Ariel, she mentioned a few times her favourite book was Animal Farm. Now I'm not a massive classic book reader and I can see why. This book went completely over my head.
