I have a few Jodi Pilcoult books, and I am not denying she is a good author. But most of the books that I have read have ended in being DNFd and I don’t want to read any more.
One of my biggest pet peeves is multiple characters. Especially when you weren’t expecting it. Or when it’s done poorly. I like to know which character is which and not be confused by them when I am reading the chapter.
I am not against multiple characters at all.
- Short Chapters
I am not an massive fan of short chapters. I don’t mind the occasional one if it’s necessary. But it goes alone with the multiple characters. If you don’t expect it. It’s not fun.
- The Confusion
I hate being confused in a book. And it’s down to the short chapters and multiple characters. And the different fonts that go along with each character. I like books that make sense
Don’t get me wrong there are some books that I love by Jodi, The Pact being one of them. But for a majority of the books I own by her I am less than pleased with.
I did try and read two different books that looked so good but felt that they were let down by the multiple characters. In A Change of Hearts I would have loved it to have been just the three characters you see on the blurb.
