Welcome o day 4 of blogmas
Sometimes I find myself reading a book that I didn't enjoy but couldn't put down but slowly as I read the book I find myself disconnecting from the books for various reasons.
I am someone that likes to be able to see characters off the page just as much as on the page. 99.9% of Harry Potter characters I saw off the pages of the books, and when the movies started coming out they were what I imagined them to be. But there are books that I feels so disconnected from the characters that when and if they are made into movies it's disheartening. It's a big factor of me disconnecting with the book.
I understand that book series get longer as the series goes on, but when it's ridiculous I loose interest. Non more so then Twilight or The Lunar Chronicles. I felt that they became way to long.
The Lunar Chronicles are biggest culprits of it. In Scarlet I got confused by the jumping around from Scarlet and Cinder but then add Cress into the mix and I was done. I couldn't take the jumping around and the boring plot line.
Also another plot line that I felt disconnected to was Willems story in Just One Year. That confused the shit outta me.
For me it's hard reading two books at once. I'll do it occasionally but it's hard, so when I am reading more then a book while reading a book that I had planned to read
I'm not a fast reader by any stretch of the imagination, but if a book takes longer then a month for me to read then I am sure I'm getting disconnected. Not 100% but I'm pretty close.
I hate DNFing books π. It's a horrible feeling. But there are books that I just can't finish reading because I've had enough of them. Beneath The Glitter by Elle and Blair Fowler was a book that I didn't intend not to finish I was 100 pages from the end, and not picking it up. It's not a massive book but after a while enough time passed and I want reading it. I can normally push myself through a book that I'm not enjoying but sometimes Enough really is Enough.
Books That I Have Disconnected With While Reading
- Cress
- Marissa Meyer
With Cress for me it was going no where. The storyline did it for me as well as the characters and chapters forever changing
- Beneath The Glitter
- Elle and Blair Fowler
With BTG, I felt that it was way to obvious what was going to happen, and as if I'd seen it before. It wasn't until I saw Material Girls with the Duff sisters that I understood why.
- Just One Year
- Gayle Forman
With Just One Year, I didn't like the storyline, which is really awful because I loved the first book in the duology
- Breaking Dawn
- Stephanie Meyer
Breaking Dawn was horrible. It just made the whole series brought right down even more so then the previous books
