1. What can we infer from the fact that Adele had hundreds of people at her funeral, but only trusted an estranged friend to take care of her child? What does that say about Kamryn?
I think it's because Kamryn is the only other person in the whole world that truly loved Tegan as much as Adele did.
Also you could have all the people in the whole world at your funeral but if there is that one special person in your life even if you no longer talk, they will always be special.
Adele had major trust issues from her childhood and she didn't want to happen to her child.
2. Why do you think Adele kept Tegan’s paternity from Nate? Do you think Adele would have told Nate the truth before she died, if Nate had returned her calls?
she kept Tegan's paternity from Nate because she had already hurt him. Ok she slept with him but he lost just as much as she did when Kamryn found out. Also I think because she couldn't be around him without Kamryn being there. It was a reminder of what she lost, even though she had Tegan.
I don't think she would have told just for the simple fact that they had both lost Kamryn.
3. Would Kamryn ever have faced her past with Adele and Nate if she hadn’t become the guardian of Tegan?
I don't think she would have. She was to hurt. She would have kept her head in the sand so to speak. She wanted to forget anything had happened so she wouldn't be hurt by them again.
4. Do you think Kamryn had a choice in taking guardianship of Tegan? Do you think Kamryn would have taken the child if Tegan had loving grandparents?
I think she always would have taken Tegan she just didn't know it until she saw Tegan and how her grandparents treated her. She had heard the story's Adele had told her about them, but because she wasn't a part of Adele's life then she was distant from it. It was second hand information but when she saw Tegan and the way she was treated she knew she would take her
5. All of Kamryn’s relationships seem to grow out of negative feelings. Kamryn didn’t like Luke or Adele at first. She slept with Nate on their first date just to get rid of him. Kamryn’s relationship with Tegan is the only relationship where she does not make any judgments. How does this effect your perception of Kamryn?
something must have happened to Kamryn to make her that way long before everything that happened. She might have had something that tainted her.
6. In Adele’s letters to Kamryn, she explains what happened between her and Nate. Is the explanation satisfactory? Why was it easier for Kamryn to forgive Adele than it was for her to forgive Nate?
I don't think she could truly ever forgive Adele even if she had survived. But she did for her love of Tegan.
7. Kamryn is always questioning which man is “The One” for her. Do either Luke or Nate fit that description? Who would be better for Kamryn? For Tegan?
I think that Luke is the best fit, Nate has a lot of baggage that hurt Kamryn to begin with so bringing it all up with him again would be just as hard if not harder then it was with Adele and Tagan. She wouldn't have ever trusted Nate if they had gotten together.
8. Because of Tegan, Kamryn is not considered for the position of Marketing Director. Do you think Kamryn was ready to handle the position with all the changes in her life? Do you think her boss should be the one to make that decision for her? Would Kamryn have made the right choice for her and Tegan?
I don't think she could have handled a new job position right away after having Tegan. Inthink with everything else going on it would have been far to much for her. But saying that I think she needed Tegan back in her life like this to realize that she needs to take a step back from work because it would be better in the long run for her.
I think Kamryn's boss needed to make the decision for her because she would have take on way to much.
9. What will happen to Kamryn and Luke? Will Kamryn, Tegan, Luke, and Nate be able to live peacefully in their makeshift family?
I hope that Luke and Kamryn can work out. They seem like two people who would be 100% honest with each other. I think that the four of them will have their own kind of family. No family are ever the same.
10. What do you think is at the core of this novel? Friendship? Love? Change? Discovery?
forgiveness. Not just Kamryn forgive Adele or Nate, but herself as well
Hope. That everything will work out. That Kamryn will get a hold of everything. That she'll be ok.
Wonder. If everything will be ok.
11. The author refers to My Best Friend’s Girl as a “heart-lit” book. Do you think this moniker is accurate?
Yes. Completely. It's very rare that a book can both make me laugh and cry and make my heart fill up but it's so much more as well. There is something about the book that I can't put my finger on.
