My Review

When o first read the book back in 2014, I wasn't a massive fan of it. The word 'fan Girl' was so over used at the time I actually rolled my eyes at the title of the book. 

Now re reading it again three years later I like it a little more then I did before, but there are parts of the book that I shake my head at because it's so boring. 

One of the things that I do like is just how different Cath and Wren are. I like how their names are a play on a name and how even though they are twins when they get to college they go their own way, even though Cath doesn't want to in the beginning. I like how they both have valid points about their mother after she walked out in them. 

One of the things that annoyed me was the fact that some times in the book I had to go back and re read some of the parts where Cath was speaking to other people because I would get confused about who was saying what

A lot of other people really like this book, but I'm not there and even after re reading the book, I have come to the conclusion that it's just like any other YA book out there. The girl who falls in love with her roommates ex boyfriend (Cath). The one who drinks to much (Wren). Cleaver boy who dumbs himself down (Levi) and the girl who doesn't care about anything (Regan)

• Cath

I found Cath a little annoying. I don't want this to sound bad or anything, I know the story is mainly about her, but I think Rainbow Rowell could have made her a little more interesting. It was obvious from page one that it would be Cath that was the one who would have a love interest rather then her sister. I feel as though Cath wants to let go and grow but cant because she's scared. She doesn't like change and at the first sign of a struggle she wants to give up. 

If you have read my review on To All The Boys I've Loved Before, then you know I'm not a massive fan of Lara Jean the main character in that book, to me Cath is almost as bad as Lara Jean is just a bit older. 

• Regan

I liked Regan. She has one of the attitudes that I like to see in characters. 

• Levi

At first I wasn't to sure on Levi. (I love his name but all I can see is evil) but as I have read more into the book he seems like a decent person. 

• Wren

Wren is literally my favourite character in the whole book. She's the typical person you'd imagine on a campus, just out having fun

Over all this book has gone down in my opinion. Yes even though I like it more the second time around. There is really nothing special about the book. 

People have said that Rainbow Rowell is a different kind of YA author, but to be honest she is just the same which is sad because I wanted to enjoy her other work but feel that it would be the same kind of thing. 

One of the things I had found myself doing through out the book was skipping all the fan fiction parts. 

Something I did like about the book was the font, the style of it and how big it was really suited the book. I liked how it made the book look bigger then it actually was. 

I was always told if your reviewing something, or talking about someone you should do it like a sandwich. The bread is the good parts and you filling is the bad parts. This review seems like it's the other way around. That the filling is the good parts and the bread is the bad. I say that because it seems like all I've done is bash this book. One of the biggest things about this book is the inconsistency of it. Parts of it I find go really quick while other parts go slower and harder to read. 

Because it has changed my options on it the second time around I have rated it down for a rating on Goodreads from a solid three and half to a barley making a two.
