Book Talk: Harry Potter

With June being the 20th anniversariy release of Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone I wanted to do a whole Book Talk kind of post about the series. When the first book came out 20 years ago I was 8 years old. Which looking back is scary. In those 20 years, I have lived in 5 different places, two different countries, moved house more times then I can even remember and closer to hitting 30 then I am to hitting the double digits I was back then.

When the book came out I was living in Crewkerne England.  I am such a Potter Head.

  • Harry and Ginny Relationship
I'm the only person that I know that enjoys Harry and Ginny's relationship. I think that if Harry and Hermionie had gotten together like JK Rowling and everyone else seems to have wanted them to be then I think the whole dynamic of the group would have shifted. The fact that Harry and Ginny are together just brings together the fact that Harry is such a big part of the Weasley family anyway he slotted in well. And that goes with Hermionie,  the two of them slot into the family so much more that the fact they both married a Weasley just means that they have made it into a family that loves them. I've seen people say that Harry and Ginny's relationship came out of nowhere but if you go back to book two then you can see that Ginny had a crush on Harry back then. If someone else has come in and married Ron then it would be the Lavender-Ron-Hermionie love triangle again, and the new person wouldn't have fit in to the group.

  • Draco Malfoy
So I kinda love ❤️ Malfoy in a wierd kinda way. He's up in my top 5 male characters not only of Harry Potter but of all male characters. When I first read the books I hoped that he would turn out to be kind If decent. Draco is that character that first impressions of someone can be so off.

  • Voldemort
He's so evil that I love it 😍. He is one of those villains that everyone loves to hate.

  • Deaths

Ok so there was a lot of deaths in the books, especially the last one.
    • Fred
  • Fred's death is the one I took the hardest. For the simple fact that Fred and George are my favourite characters.

    • Tonks and Lupin
  • For me while Tonks and Lupins deaths were for a variety of different things it still upset me that they died. For me they died to show the full circle that another child their parents because of a war, and Voldemort
    • Dobby
  • Surprisingly I wasn't that sad about Dobby dying because I felt that he was doing a good thing by helping those who needed help. And again it came full circle in a weird kind of way for me. He was defying his old masters.

    • Hedwig
  • Hedwig for me was a massive loss.

    • Lavender
  • I didn't really like Lavender in the early books but when she started dating Ron I really liked her. It would have been interesting to see how the later years would have panned out for Ron and Hermionie if she was still around.

    • Cedric
  • Ok so I wasn't fazed by Cedric's death, sad yes, but what got me more was the speech that Dumbedore gave afterwards when speaking about Cedric.

    • Dumbledore, Sirius and Snape
  • While these three deaths were in themselves sad, I wasn't overly surprised they died.  Shock horror I know. Out of the three I think Sirius was the one I was most sad about for the fact that Harry finally had someone in his life that he could trust that was a close connection to his dad.

  • Death Eaters
I liked how JK Rowling did the death eaters. They were written so well, and when it came to the movies I was worried about how they would come across but they were brilliant.

  • Greyback
Even though I am not a fan of the death eaters the one person I dislike more is Greyback the warewolf.  I mean he is just so creepy.

  • Hagrid
I love Hagrid. Robbie Coltraine as Hagrid is just perfect.

  • Quotes
I mean so many quotes you could find one on almost every page of every single book.

  • Marauders
I liked the concept of the Marauders. The fact that you can have four normal boys being such good friends and having them all go into different directions

  • Castings
I found that a great deal of the castings were spot on for what I imagined
  • Harry
  • Fred and George
  • Bellatrix
  • Mrs Weasley
  • Ginny
  • Luna
  • Neville

  • Houses
I'm a Ravenclaw and while I never thought I would be ever be in Ravenclaw I am happy to be there. It along with Hufflepuff are definitely the least talked about of the houses, yet there are a lot of great people who have come out of them.

  • The Dursleys
The Dursley's were brilliant. I think for how long they were in each book, they were brilliant.

  • Hat stall
I like the idea of a hat Stall.  I think there should have been more if I am honest.
A Hat Stall is when the sorting hat takes longer then five minutes to choose the persons house
  • McGonnagal was a hat stall
  • Peter Pettigrew was almost a hat stall

  • Theory's
    • Snape didn't die
  • This theory came because he wasn't in the Great Hall after the war was over. For me personally this is a non starter of a theory. At the time no one but the main three knew that Snape was actually not as bad as everyone had thought he was.

    • McGonnagal is Hermionie's Grandmother
  • It's thought that McGonnagal had a child out of wedlock and gave that child up for adoption and it grew up a squib, and then that child had Hermionie

    • McGonnagal is a death eater
  • For me this one is so not true. Apparently McGonnagal is a death eater because she would keep Harry out of trouble.

    • The Dursley's were effected by the horcrux in Harry
  • I can totally see this one bit I am on the fence about it for the simple fact that Petunia and Lily never got on since lily got into hogwarts and petunia didn't. And the fact that Vernon and James didn't get on I put the fact that the Dursley's don't like Harry because they didn't like his parents

  • You have to pick Gryffindor as a house/The main three chose Gryffindor
Because the main three all happen to be in Gryffindor when they all have personalities more suited to other houses.

    • Harry's scar can only be seen by people he loves
  • Any school age children at hogwarts in second year and above travel to the school by a cart pulled by invisible creatures that can only be seen if you have seen someone die, or if someone close to you has died - Harry can see them because his parents died. Luna can see them because her mother died - well apparently the only people that can see Harry's lightning ⚡️ scar that Voldemort gave him as a child can only be seen by those he loves.

  • Harry Potter Merch
Wow there is a lot of it, the books, the tours, clothing, anything and everything that you could put Harry Potter on to there is and if I am being honest. I love it. I do have extra Harry Potter things, a few extra books nothing AMAZING or anything.

  • Teachers
Personally for me, Dumbledore is a bit like Sir Alex Ferguson. An absolute legend who sometimes gets it so, so wrong.

    • Umbrage
  • That woman needed a massive slap in the face. She was one of those teachers that I would have given attitude to when I was as school

    • Qurillal
  • Qurillal is one of those teachers that everyone would have made fun of at my school but when you saw them outside it's a different story.

    • Lockheart
  • What a mess of a teacher he was.

    • McGonnagal
  • I would have loved to have a teacher like McGonnagal at the schools I went to.

    • Slughorn
  • I actually liked slughorn. I thought he brought something in the books that were so needed

Hogwarts Battle
For me the battle was so well written that when it came to the filming of it I was worried about what would happen and if it would go on film well, but it was better then I could have ever imagined. And the fact that the second wizarding world ended up like the first where a child lost both parents killed me a little inside

  • Neville
Neville for me was a stand out character throughout the whole series. I think that at the end when he killed Voldemort's snake, it made him realize that people actually do trust him, and that he can stand on his own two feet

  • Epilogue
I'm not afraid to say I cried when I read the epilogue the first time. Even now I cry because I know there won't be any more 'main' Harry Potter books. Personally I think it was so well done. I know not a lot of people like it, the one thing I compare it to is the Ron and Hermionie relationship. Not a lot of people like that, but I do.

So to JK Rowling, thank you for creating something so magical, imaginative, different and damn right addictive.

Kardashian: The Man Who Saved O.J Simpson Netflix Review

Kardashian: The Man Who Saved O.J Simpson
Netflix Review
Welcome to another Netflix Review. It's seems like forever since I did one.

This is on the Robert Kardashian documentary right now.

*All views are my own*

This documentary has been on my list on Netflix since the day it came out, but have only just watched it.

I am not a massive fan of The Kardasians. In fact I can't stand the whole lot of them, BUT, the OJ Simpson case is fascinating.

At the beginning of the documentary it says that there would be no Kardasians today if Robert Kardasian hadn't been OJ's defence lawyer at his murder trial.

So we all know who the Kardashian's are. That family who has the tv show, Kris (the mum), Khloe, Kim, Kourtney, Rob Jnr, Kendal and Kylie. The latter two are not a Kardasian.

—•—
THOUGHTS ON THE DOCUMENTARY

  • That Robert Kardasian is an absolute tool. Personally I don't think it matters if your friends with someone, if it's obvious they committed a murder, they committed it. What I can't believe is that he took something so important away from the crime scene. If his friend was truly innocent then why hide something so important.

  • OJ Simpson killed them and got away with murder, you could tell by the look on his face.

The Louis Vitton bag is a big focal point of the documentary. People believe that there was clothing and other things in the bag that OJ had been wearing the day he committed the murder of his ex wife and her friend

Over All Feelings
Personally I think this documentary (like many others about the OJ Simpson case) is just to bring more notary to the Kardasian family not that they need any more in my opinion, most documentaries always seem to give the same amount of information about the murders, about the crime, but never really about those who helped get OJ off, and to be honest they should all be in jail for lying.
What I liked is the fact they included people's first hand account of the time, and the fact that a relative of one of the victims was included.

It Books I've Been Meaning To Start But Haven't

Welcome to a post all about the books that I keep meaning to read and haven't. Most of the books that I meantion are books that at the time I brought them I really wanted to read but over time I have forgotten that I own.

  • Will Grayson, Will Grayson
    • John Green
I've had the book on my shelf for years, and keep meaning to read it but just haven't. I keep putting it in plain view but then keep pushing it back, it's the only John Green book that I own I haven't yet read

  • Everyone Worth Knowing
    • Lauren Wiesburger
I loved The Devil Wears Prada, but haven't gotten around to Everyone Worth Knowing even though I really want to read it.

  • The Last Song
    • Nicholas Sparks
For me Nicholas Sparks is one of those authors that I have a love hate relationship with. I love some books but others I don't and even though I haven't read the book and want To who knows if I will

  • The Coldest Girl in Coldstown
    • Holly Black
Thanks to twilight I am finding it hard to read books that have a strong connection to vampires.  Because I mean twilight ruined it, BIG TIME.

  • Love Anthony
    • Lisa Genova
I want to read the book so bad, but can't get through the first chapter. It covers some great topics in the book but I have never read it and I keep meaning to.

  • To Kill A Mockingbird
    • Harper Lee
I don't remember ever reading the book in high school. And I remember getting the book a few years ago, and just keep putting it off.

  • A Place Called Here
    • Cecilia Ahern
About nine years ago I was into Cecilia Ahern. But after a while her books became boring, and I never got around to reading the book even thing I wanted to and still do.

  • All Fall Down
    • Jennifer Weir
When I got the book it was a part of the 3 for $10, and I couldn't wait to read it, now 3 years later, I still haven't read it.

  • Last Night at Chateu Merimont
    • Lauren Weisburger
I cant say that I am a massive fan of Lauren's work, as I have only read one book by her, but I keep meaning to read more by her but just haven't.

Just Some Mumbo Jumbo

As I get older it's scary to think that time just flys by. I mean how is it already June. The middle of the year, yet it feels like we have just celebrated Christmas and the new year.

The pool isn't even opened yet, though the cover of it's off. They haven't cleaned it yet and there is still a puddle of green disgusting in the deep end. But with crazy weather we've been having where I live I hope we get a decent summer. I just want the pool opened so I can jump in it.

My summer reading is year is going to be cheesey books that in my eyes are just perfect for summer.

When January first comes around I never set myself any New Years resolutions. I never stick to them. I think the last time I set one was ten years ago, and I didn't last a day, instead I set them when I feel like it. What I did last summer was I decided that I wasn't going to complain about how hot it got during the summer. It's one of my pet peeves when people complain about the heat,  but then I am more of a spring and summer kind of person anyways. All summer I didn't complain about the heat, and while it was hot last year, it wasn't as hot as it has been in previous years. This year I am not complaining about the heat again.

I'm not a massive morning person. If I have to get up early I will and can, but some days I just enjoy going to bed late and waking up late. But there will be times when I will go to bed late, and wake up early and can't get back to sleep. My sleep pattern has always been all over the place. Well when I woke up I took this picture of the sun reflecting off a disco ball and on to the wall.

In May, something inside me clicked. I'd always enjoyed taking photos but in May I took more then normal.

I don't get inspired by anything important or interesting if something catches my eye I take it.

The 'On This Day' app thing on Facebook, that thing I can't decide if it's brilliant or embarrassing. Looking at it recently I can't decide. Some of what I have put on Facebook is so embarrassing that I shake my head at myself for being such a tool. This year I have been on Facebook for 9 years, just before I moved to Canada I joined, so around March 2008 I joined, well  over the past few weeks I have some stuff that had come up that I am like 'OMG, that's so awesome.'

A Down With Webster photo came up. 4 years ago they were a support act for Marianas Trench, and took the photo from the stage.

I'm not really a massive Snapchat person. Some days I will over use it. Other days I won't even bother. I recently used it and some of the filters were pretty funny and cute.

Rainbows 🌈 are my favourite thing of all time. I like the ones that are bright but this one caught my eye out the window.

The weather has been heating up over the last few weeks, and my cat was staying cool under the fan and I got these pics of him
