This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is all about holiday reads.

It’s a pretty short one 


I don’t normally read books that are specific to a season, it’s a big pet peeve that you can only read curtain books at a curtain time of year.  

This year my ‘holiday’ reads are the final three books of the Harry Potter Series. I am about half way through Order of the Phoenix.

Back to my blog and another tag. This is the spring Tag. Spring is my favourite time of year. The clocks go forward, meaning we have longer days, the weather starts to change, my birthday is in spring and it means it's almost summer. 

1. What books are you most excited to read over the next few months?

I'm exited to read Scarlett and Cress in the Lunar Chronicles. I've already read Cinder and enjoyed it. I want to re read Fan Girl. 

2. What book most makes you think of Spring, for whatever reason?

This is so hard because not a lot of books are set in spring. No books remind me of spring which is a shame because I love spring. 

3. The days are getting longer - what is the longest book you've read?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. 

4. What books would you recommend to brighten someone's day?

One Day by David Nichols. Though it's not a favourite book of mine I really enjoyed the concept of the book.  It gives you good feelings. 

5. Spring brings new life in nature - think up a book that doesn't exist but you wish it did. (eg by a favourite author, on a certain theme or issue etc)

Anything by Dorothy Koomson. It's something about her writing style that I love. 

6. Spring is also a time of growth - how has your reading changed over the years?

My reading style has changed so much over the years. I was and still am obsessed with the Harry Potter series, Jacqueline Wilson books and loved Roald Dahl books. I would rarely read and other books. But as I have gotten older I have expanded and read books that I normally would had passed up. And that's because of Dorothy Koomson. If I hadn't of read one of her books who know what I'd be reading if reading at all. 

7. We're a couple of months into the new year - how's your reading going?

It's going really well. I have read quite a few books. I haven't put pressure on myself to finish books I dislike. 

8. Any plans you're looking forward to over the next few months?

Just to continue on my reading challenge.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before. This was such an easy choice. I wanted to fix Lara Jean so bad. I found her boring and predictable and bland and plain.

Give me Love- A book with your favorite romance
Harry and Ginny. I actually really like the fact that JK Rowling put them together rather then Harry and Hermione.

I'm a Mess- A book that left you emotionally destroyed
Goodnight, Beautiful. By Dorothy Koomson. She knows how to write a book that can break my heart. Most of the books that I've read by her have broken my heart.  Not in a bad way or anything but just the things she writes about don't really get written about and she dose it so well.

Beauty and the Beast Tag

Welcome back to my blog. With the  release of the new Beauty and the Beast movie this year i thought I'd do the Beauty and the Beast Tag. I'm not a massive fan of Disney. #Controversial but I do like Emma Watson

-  'Tale as Old as Time’ – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading.
Harry Potter series. The first seven books. I am someone who likes the fact that there is all the extras that are coming out, but seriously it's a lot, but the actual books that started it all of will never get old for me. I will never get tired of reading them.

- Belle – A book you bought for it’s beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too.
The UK editions of Marshmallows for Breakfast and My Best Friends Girl are just the most beautiful covers ever. I got them partly for the covers because they are so beautiful, soft, pastel covers. They are just so beautiful. (Also side note the uk and North American cover of The Ice Cream Girls is amazing as well. Totally different but so beautiful. I have the North American version of the book, but want the uk edition because i love it as well. Also another side note. I lent out my first copy of My Best Friends Girl and never got it back and got the North American copy for Christmas and that cover is just beautiful as well).

- Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you.
Hate List by Jennifer Brown. I thought not would have been ok, and nothing to rave about. In fact I had no idea what it was about. I kept gravitating towards in when I was in the book store and I just got it.

- Gaston – A book everyone loves but you don’t.
To all the boys I've loved before. I don't even wanna talk about it.

- Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart.
Emily from The Devil Wears Prada. Love love love her. She's such a bitch to Andy but loves her job and I think she is just a brilliant character that makes the book that much more better and every time I read The Devil Wears Prada I love her even more. Plus I think Emily Blunt plays her so well.

- Mrs. Potts, Chip, Lumiér, and Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable.
The Ice Cream Girls by Dorothy Koomson taught me that holding on to something massive can and will lead to disaster.

- 'Something There’ – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end.
One Day by David Nichols. At first I didn't like the book, but as I got more into it I really enjoyed it a lot more. There is something about his writing style that keeps you hocked.


- 'Be Our Guest’ – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner.
I would say George Weasley. Then we can talk about our love for Fred. But I hate thinking of only having one so I would say the Weasley twins because I can't have just one or the other.

Back to my blog. Today I have a tag for you all. It feels like forever since I've done a tag. I was inspired by Julie from Pages and Pens to do this tag.

What's your favourite book?
I don't have a overall general favorite book, but the books that I have read by Dorothy Koomson are among some of my favourites. 

What was your favourite book 5 years ago?
Marshmallows For Breakfast or My Best Friends Girl by Dorothy Koomson. I am a massive fan of Dorothy Koomson and I think she should be more well known around the world.

Favourite duology/trilogy/series?
Duology would be If I Stay by Gayle Forman or The Rules of Summer
For a trilogy I don't think I've read a good trilogy that I enjoyed

What was the last book you read?
The last book that I fully read was The Pact. 

What was the last book of poetry you read?
I don't think I've ever read a book of poetry. I know shocker. Actually thinking about it I may have back when I was at school taking my GCSEs.  Yep that long ago. Way back in 2004/2005.


What book most influenced your life?
My Best Friends Girl. Adoption is close to my heart.

7) Book that made you ugly cry?
Hate List by Jennifer Brown. Damn that book made me laugh and cry and have all the feels. But seriously when I cried it wasn't pretty. 

8) Book that made you laugh?
David Jason's autobiography. Some parts of that book literally made me laugh so hard.

9) Character you'd like to be for the day?
Ginny Weasley. I have a lot of love for the Weasley family as a whole. Fred and George are my all time favorite characters and Ginny is also up there. She is definitely my favorite female character is Harry Potter. She's fun, cleaver, beautiful, and totally fearless. She can handle herself well in a family full of boys. She totally could have got lost and forgotten in the books but she didn't. She could have been lost in the fact she had so many older brothers but she stood her ground. 


10) A book that was so good you dreamt about it?
The Ice Cream Girls. It was the first one in ages that I have had a dream about. It was that good that even when I wasn't reading it I could picture myself in the situations.

11) Book you DNF'd?
Just One Year is the first one that came to mind. This year I decided not to put to much pressure on myself to finish a book that I am not enjoying. I really didn't enjoy Just One Year that I didn't finish it.

12) what book are you most excited to read?
Goodnight, Beautiful by Dorothy Koomson. Can you tell I am a fan of her work. It's not a new release or anything but it's been on my shelf for a while and I can't wait to read it.

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows. A part of it is set in London England and I am from England. In fact before I moved to Canada I lived about an hour and half drive south of London

4. Pick a book that represents a destination you’d love to travel to

One day by David Nichols in it they travel to Paris. I have been to Paris but I was asleep as it was the middle of the night. I would love to actually see it in the day time

5. Pick a book that’s your favorite color on it

Marshmallows for breakfast. I love the cover of the book anyways and it has my favourite shade of pink on it

6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It isn't my favourite of the whole HP but it holds some good memories.

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

Twilight saga. I have had it for ages and it's only now that I am getting around to actually finishing the series

8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you finish it?

Breaking Dawn. I am about half way through it at the moment. I have had the whole series for ages. Since moving to Canada. It was one of the first things I got when I first moved here and that was over 8 years ago

1. What was the last book you read?

Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer

2. Was it a good one?

I fond it was ok, not great. About bearable

3. What made it good?

There are very little good with it

4. Would you recommend it to other people?

Yes!!! I have actually lent it to my dad to read

I read pretty much all the time,

Yes!!

7.What was the last bad book you read?

To All The Boys I've Loved Before. (With New Moon close second)

8. What made you dislike it?

The short chapters, the boring story line, the predictable things that would happen,

9. Do you wish to be a writer?

Sometimes

10. Has any book every influenced you greatly?

My Best Friends Girl. The book really made me think what I would do in that situation.

This is such a hard one for me, I have so many books that I love, but I can't choose a defiant favorite, but its between, My Best Friend's Girl and Marshmallows for Breakfast and The Devil Wears Prada. (Obviously Harry Potter is up there as well)

14. What’s your least favorite book?

The Twilight books, I used to love the first book but I am not a massive fan of the whole series

15. Do you prefer physical books or ready on a device (like a kindle)?

Easy peasy lemon squezzy, Physical copies all the way. I did a whole post about it HERE

16. When did you learn to read?

Around the age of four when I started school I think

17. What is your favorite book you had to read in school?

I hated reading in school. The schools I went to never gave us any set material to read.

Harry Potter

I don't think I have a favorite genre, if something takes my liking I will pick it up.

Apart from the Harry Potter I would say the books I have read by Dorothy Koomson, so basically The Chocolate Run, The Cupid Effect, My Best Friends Girl and Marshmallows for Breakfast. (Its a shame that I lent out three of them and didn't get them back)

Any of the Dorothy Koomson books,

24. Which book do you wish DIDNT have a sequel?

To All the Boys I've Loved Before, even though I haven't read P.S. I Still Love You, I don't think it wold be great

25. How long does it take you to read a book?

About 10-14 days roughly, yet Eclipse is taking me a little longer

26. Do you like when books become movies?

Depends on the book, if its a good book then yes I like it when it becomes a movie

27. Which book was ruined by its movie adaptation?

Twilight. I think that's part of the reason why I dont like the books

The Devil Wears Prada

I occasionally read the Daily Mail app

I used to but not anymore

Neither

No, I tend to watch Netflix while in bed

Yes, as gross as it may sound its better then reading my phone

No, I cant stand looking down while a car is moving

Sometimes if I decide to have a bath rather then a shower

In some people's eyes I could be a fast reader and then depending on the book I could be a fast reader but I don't think I am particularly fast

But I don't think that I am slow either, sure there people who read faster

On the couch, or in the bathroom

Sometimes I have such a short attention span anyway so to concentrate sometimes can become hard

It doesnt really matter, I live on my own so  I can control the amount of noise in my apartment
