Characters Who Would Make Great Leaders

Welcome to the characters that I think would make great leaders. They are all women who I think could be leaders in their own right.

  • Emma
    • One Day
I feel is she had more faith in herself right from the beginning of the book she would make a great leader. She reminds me of Andrea from The Devil Wears Prada when she first walks in to the office

  • Andrea
    • The Devil Wears Prada
Andrea is one of my all time favourite female characters but just like Emma I think she needs more self confidence at the beginning of the book and realize that she is a strong person who would make a great leader

  • Poppy and Serena
    • The Ice Cream Girls
Because of everything these two have gone through I think they'd make a great leaders together talking about their experiences

  • Tegan
    • My Best Friends Girl
When she's older I can see Tegan being an absolute boss. I can see her owning her own multi million pound company.

  • Ruby
    • Lock and Key
I honestly think that that if Ruby can completely get past the fact that she had to move in with her sister and brother in law she could settle down and work hard and become such a great leader in everything she dose.

  • Skeeter
    • The Help
Skeeter is one of those people who thinks outside the box anyway for the time and era that she lives in. If she could just keep it going she could be the best.

The Last Song Book Review || Nicholas Sparks

Book: The Last Song
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Pages: 405
Publisher:
Genre: Romance,
Started: October 28th 2017
Finished: November 16th 2017
Goodreads: 2*

I've always had a thing about Miley Cyrus. I've never really liked her that much and so when I decided to read The Last Song I knew it would be difficult. And in some ways it was. I didn't like the flipping between characters in the book. I like the book to be simple and easy to read.

I got over the fact that it's got Miley Cyrus on the cover, and got over half way through the book. And then bam. I am have trouble with it. I know Nicholas Sparks is well known for his romantic novels set in North Carolina but there was something about the book that isn't as good as the other books that I've read by him.

There was so much going on within the book that made it an ok book but still didn't like the flip flopping between the characters in each chapter.

I was expecting the chapters to be shorter because of all the different storylines going on within the book but I'm glad that it didn't.

Did it need all the smaller storylines? In my opinion no, the storyline about Ronnie stealing I knew right away that it wasn't going to go anywhere because another storyline would pop up, which I don't like. If it's major enough to have in the story, then give it some bang. Ok so Blaze told the truth about what happened on the night of a tragedy happened, but that only because she had something bad happen to her (that was also kind of related to the first accident), and that she felt bad for Ronnie

I looked through the discussion questionsat the back of the book and one question was about how much Ronnie changed throughout the book, yeah she changed but who wouldn't change. Isn't that the whole point of the book to see her change.

Another is about why Will fell for Ronnie, and it's an obvious answer.  Because he wanted to be nothing  like his family. He wanted to be with someone who is so completely different then himself. I call it the rich-poor syndrome. Where one person in the relationship is rich while the other isn't and it's a bit of a pet peeve when reading books.

The whole book could have been a lot better then it is. And that's why I gave it a 2* rating on Goodreads because it could be such a good book. Most of the storylines could and should have gone somewhere, the romances within the book should have gone further and not have even happened.

Top 5 Wednesday || November 22nd: Books I Am Thankful For

Ok so I should have done a post the first weekend of October on books that I am thankful for, as that was when Canadian thanksgiving was, I had it already to go, and then instead of hitting publish I deleted it.  Yep. Full on hit delete and boom it's gone. I was so mad at myself. So this one is a

  • My Best Friends Girl
The book shows so many stereotypes still happen with curtain things that should be gone. It's a book that is close to my heart because of adoption. I'm thankful that it shows forgiveness because sometimes forgiving people can be hard.

  • The Devil Wears Prada
I'm thankful for The Devil Wears Prada because I know it's a book that can get me out of any and all of my reading slumps.

  • The Ice Cream Girls
The book is one that a lot of people should read.  It deals with topics that are happening everyday.  I'm thankful because someone has written it.  It's beautifully written and flips stereotypes around

  • Harry Potter
Just because it's Harry Potter.

Books I Want To Read By My Birthday πŸŽ‰ πŸ“š πŸ“–

Welcome. This post is on the books that I want to read by my birthday (March 29th).

The Kite Runner
Khaled Hooseini

This is a book that I found in the laundry room, it looked interesting picked it up and never actually read it.

All Fall Down
Jennifer Weir

I got this book forever ago, well over three years ago, it was on sale as a part of a 3 for $10, which at the time (and still dose) blows my mind because it's a hardback book that I got for $3.33, and that part of the reason I picked it up, because it was a good deal, but haven't even picked it up to read.

The Next Best Thing
Jennifer Weir

This book I actually got for free. It was in the laundry room of the apartment building that I live in and so I picked it up.

Everyone Worth Knowing
Lauren Wiesburger

I have no idea when I got the book, but I know that I've had it for as long as I've lived in Canada.

Last Night At Chateau Marimont
Lauren Wiesburger

This was one of the other books that I talked about that I got 3 for $10, again it's a hard back copy of the book and I was shocked that I got it for around cheap . I just haven't picked it up

The Choice
Nicholas Sparks
This is a new addition to my book shelf.  I am on a Nicholas Sparks marathon at the moment, so hopefully by my birthday I can read it.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson
John Green
I've had this book for ages and just haven't picked it up at all. For the simple fact that I keep forgetting that I have the book. Which is really annoying.

The Casual Vacancy
JK Rowling
Ok so I am currently reading the book but it's taking me a while. I want to finish it by my birthday

Genre Benders

Welcome to a very late  Top 5 Wednesday. This will only be a Top 3 though.

My Best Friends Girl
  • Dorothy Koomson
Dorothy says that it's a heat lit book, and I agree with her. Sure it could be considered a romance book but it's not a typical romance book that storyline is second plot line within the book and not the main one.

Lock and Key
  • Sarah Dessen
Like My Best Friends Girl you can't really say that Lock and Key is in the romance genre because there is so much more then that to the book

The Ice Cream Girls
  • Dorothy Koomson
Because of all the various topics that are covered in the book it's hard to pin point the genre that it should go into.

Series I Haven't Finished

Welcome to Series I haven't finished. All but one of them I want to finish.

Matched Ally Conde

  • Matched ✔️
  • Crossed ✖️
  • Reached✖️

I love Matched. For a first book in a genre I had never really read before it was good. I really want to read Crossed and Reached, but haven't heard good things about them.

The Lunar Chronicles Marissa Meyer
  • Cinder ✔️
  • Scarlet ✔️
  • Cress
  • Fairest ✖️
  • Winter ✖️

Ive read two and half of The Lunar Chronicles books and I want to read the rest but right now I just can't.

Girl Online Zoe Sugg
  • Girl Online ✔️
  • Girl Online: On Tour ✖️
  • Girl Online: Going Solo ✖️

While I liked the first book in the series for being a quick and simple read I don't have any intention of getting the last two books because I'm just not interested in reading πŸ“– them.

  • To All The Boys I've Loved Before ✔️
  • PS I Still Love You ✖️
  • Forever and Always, Lara Jean ✖️

I wasn't a massive fan of the first book, but I want to read the rest because maybe if I read them all together it may change my mind.

Top 5 Wednesday || November 8th: Problematic Faves

Welcome to my Top 5 Wednesday in what seems like forever. Finally I have found topics again that I liked enough to do

  • Draco Malfoy
He was a complete dick through most of the books but I really liked him. I am a sucker for a bad boy.

  • Bellatrix
I really like Bellatrix there is something about her that gives her the edge of I shouldn't like her but do

  • Dexter
When I first read one fan I didn't like Dexter but re reading it lately I really like him. He was a complete dick for most of the book but he had such charm

  • Miranda
I love  The Devil Wears Prada, and Miranda is one of those characters that you want to hate because of her hard nosed appearance and they way she treats people but I can't help but love her.

November TBR

The Casual Vacancy
JK Rowling
The good thing about The Casual Vacancy is that I didn't have to spend to $32 that it would have been. I want to finish it by the end of the month.

The Last Song
  • Nicholas Sparks
I always said I had difficulty with this book because of Miley Cyrus connection with it. But I want to read it. Well finish reading it.

Book Talk: October Wrap Up

Welcome to October's Wrap Up. How is it November already. It feels as if it shouldn't be.

Cress
I was so disappointed with Cress that I couldn't even finish reading the book.  I felt like it was way to dragged out in some places, way to much going on in other places and like there was no actual structure within the book.

All I Know Now
Finished.  One of those books, like I said in my review, that I wish I had. I think a lot of people should read it.

Safe Haven
I love this book, I love the movie, it just pits everything into perspective for Katie on how she should live her life.

The Ice Cream Girls
This was a re read, because I disliked Cress and felt that I couldn't finish it, I read a book that I knew I loved and finished it.
