For ages I've seen the adverts for Rio Ferdinand's documentary Being Mum and Dad and wanting to watch it.
Rio Ferdinand is a ex professional football (soccer) player for many teams such as West Ham, Leeds, Manchester United, Queens Park Rangers and the England national team.
In 2015 his wife died of breast cancer and the documentary follows his life now almost two years later being mum and dad to their three children.
Within 10 minutes of watching the documentary I was balling my eyes out. Listing to the stories of the men that Rio met up with broke my heart.
We shine a light on single mothers and yes single mothers are amazing people but what this documentary shows is the other side of single parenthood. The one where it's dad doing everything, and while it's hard being a single mother think how hard it must be being a single dad because men not only have to look after the kids but do all the jobs their wife's/partners did.
My dad and I were talking about it and saying that Rio being such an active Twitter user and a business person and even a celebrity in today's celebrity culture he kept quite about his wife's condition until she died instead of spreading it around like some celebrities would have done.
Having lost my mum I can feel for his children. I was a lot older then his children were/are when I lost my mum and even now it hurts knowing she's not here.
It's such a moving documentary. It's 100% one to watch. But I will say that you need a box of tissues next to you because it will make you cry.
It took me two hours to watch even though it's only an hour documentary because I'd have tears running down my face.
