Happy International Women's Day.
Today I wanted to write a post about women who have had an impact on my life over the years.
What I do want to say is that I find it hard to trust women in my personal offline life. I have done for a while. There are women in my life that I am thankful for but not very many. With that being said let's get going…
- My mum
My mum though no longer alive is someone that I aspire to be like. I put her through sheer hell and yet she never stopped loving me, fighting for me, helping me, or simply being the most amazing woman ever. We all take our parents for granted when we're teenagers, I put my mum through so much I don't know how she did it. I didn't stop to think about how much i must have hurt her until I was 19, and by then it was almost to late. At 20 I lost someone who had become my best friend, and someone who was plain and simple a blessing. When I become a mum I wish to be half as good as she was.
- Dorothy Koomson
Dorothy for me is my favorite author as an adult. Her books are so inspiring, real and raw. She has written about topics that I haven't seen anyone else take on. One of her books covers adoption which is something so close to my heart. I like how her main character are not just the typical kind of person, you know the blonde teenage girl with money. Most of her main characters are women of colour and deal with topics that not everyone go through.
- Victoria Beckham
Victoria has been an inspiration of mine since the Spice Girls days. I remember I always wanted to be Posh Spice. She proves that no matter how many times people try and knock you down you just come back better then before.
