The Devil Wears Prada || Book Review

Hey

Today's post is a book review on The Devil Wears Prada, most of us have seen the movie. Anne Hathaway playing Andy and Meryl Streep playing Miranda. It's a brilliant movie.

And as much as I love the movie I love the book so much more.

Basically. Andrea (An-dre-ea) has just graduated from college when she gets a job interview at the Elias-Clarke building at the Runway offices. Andrea has always wanted to be a writer but goes to Runway anyways. She has never read Runway before and has never heard of Miranda Priestly. Andrea gets the job a job a million girls would die for as Miranda's junior assistant. All she has to do is a year. A year in a job that is taking over her life. Emily is the senior assistant and loves her job and takes it seriously. Where as Andrea is looking at her job as the stepping stone to becoming a writer for the New York Times. But the job starts to impact her personal life. She sees less of her family, boyfriend and best friend. Andrea struggles with doing the job. Is looked down on by the other people who work there because she just isn't fashionable like they are. She has to do crazy things like finding a new nanny for her boss' 10 year old twins. And one that can speak French to getting Miranda's coffee and making sure she gets in to her hot. She struggles and Miranda knows she is struggling. Andrea also meets a writer called Christian.  Andrea is so busy with her job as Miranda's junior assistant that she dosent realize how her best friend lily is drinking more.  When Lily is evicted from her home they move with each other. Andrea and Alex decide to take a break from their relationship as her job is putting a strain upon it. Even though it's normally the senior assistant that goes to the Paris fashion week with Miranda, Emily becomes sick with mono that Andrea had to go in her place. The week is hard for Andrea and after a few days she finds out that her best friend had been in a car accident and is in a coma. Things get to much for Andrea when Miranda tells her that her twin daughters passports have expired and she shows no sympathy towards Andrea after learning that her friend is seriously injured that she tells Miranda to basically do one and leaves. Emily calls Andrea and shows some sympathy towards her. And even though she is leaving before fashion week is officially over Emily shows an even softer side and says that she will somehow put Andrea's flight down as some other expensive. The end of the book shows Andrea and lily back at Andrea's parents house where lily is recovering. Andrea gets some of her work published in seventeen magazine.

For me personally The Devil Wears Prada is one of my favourite stand alone books. It is also one of my favourite book to movie adaptations.

What I like about the book is that it's a pretty quick and fast past book even for someone like me who can rarely finish a book quicker then a week or two.

I don't remember when I got the book. It always seems to have been on my shelf and is one of those books that I will read and love even more then the last time I read it. And even though I have seen the movies so many times when ever I read the book I don't see Anne Hathaway as Andrea or Emily Blunt as Emily, or Meryl Streep as Miranda but they fit so well in the movie.

It's one of the books that no matter how many times I will read it will always get me out of a reading slump.

I havent read the second book, and it is on my book wishlist
