Just Listen || DNR Book Review

Book: Just Listen
Author: Sarah Dessen
Publisher: Speak
Pages: 371
Started December 29th 2016
Finished: DNF (Did Not Finish)

I don't remember when I got this book, how long I've had it sitting on my shelf, or how many times I have tried to read it. It's always seemed to be there. I think I have tried to read it multiple times as there are some pages early on that have creases in the corners. By me who knows.

Just Listen follows Annabel a high school student who is the youngest of three daughters who are all models. Annabel's sisters moved to New York, where the oldest sister decides she doesn't want to be a model anymore and takes classes at college and the middle sister becomes seriously ill.

It also explores the friendship and beaksown of the friendship between Annabel and Sophie from how they met to Sophie not talking to Annabel. Also in the mix is Annabels childhood friend Clarke.

Also it tells the backstory of how Annabel and her sisters get into modelling.

At first I found the book super hard to get into. There were so much going on. From the end of the friendships, modelling, the middle sisters weight loss, it was all over the place and was dipping in and out of each story. I loved the dipping in and out of another book but that worked well

Even though the story goes in and out I like how it covers hard topics such as an eating disorder, how one person getting an opportunity in something has a knock on effect and how people can be influenced by others.

I couldn't finish it. It's that bad that it's just gonna sit there on my self until I think it's the right time to read it.  I don't know if it's a totally bad book it could get better but I don't want to give it that opportunity.

I'm doing a review on it now because I can't actually see myself finishing it in a long time. Even though I don't like to leave a book unread when I started reading it, (I have done that a lot with other books but have always finished the book at some point) I really didn't like Just Listen enough to justify reading it again.

DNF Books

Hey
and welcome back to another post, today's is a post all about my DNF books (DNF means Did Not Finish). I didn't realize how many books I actually have that I haven't finished

Just One Year
Gayle Forman
I wanted to love this book, but really couldn't love it as much as Just One Day, or If I Stay, I find with Gayle Forman's second books I just don't like them as much. Just One Year for me I just couldn't get through it. I started it twice and the second time I got a little further then the first but I couldn't finish it

Sense and Sensibility
Jane Austen
I wanted to love this book, a little of what I have read I did like, but I couldn't love it enough to carry on reading it, so I put it down without finishing the book

This is not the copy I own

Just Listen
Sarah Dessen
I have nothing against the book, but I just couldn't carry on reading it, I started it twice, I really enjoyed what I read, but it was almost as if I had hit a brick wall with it.

The Glass Wives
Amy Sue Nathan
There is a small problem with getting books on sale, and by authors you have never heard of, there is a chance they are not always great. I thought that The Glass Wives would be a great book, a different kind of book for me to read, but I just couldn't get in to it

Beneath The Glitter
Elle and Blair Fowler
I was so close to finishing the book, but it was that bad that I couldnt ever imagine at the moment that I would finish it

Love Anthony
Lisa Genova
I keep starting the book but just don't finish it, I just start other books

Books I Started But Did Not Finish

Hey

Today's post is one on Books I Haven't Finished, so basically I have started the book at for some reason or another haven't finished them.

Beneath the Glitter
Elle and Blair Fowler
Elle and Blair were for me the first ones from YouTube to really do a book. After that everyone seemed to do a book. I picked up the book (at the time I really liked the sisters) started reading it and I almost finished it but couldn't. The book as a whole really confused me.

 Animal Farm
George Orwell
It's not a particularly a long book. The version I have is less then 100 pages but it was something about it that I couldn't finish reading. I found it really hard to get through.

Just Listen
Sarah Dessen
Just Listen is on my September TBR list and to be honest I don't think I will get to it this month. I want read it by the end of the year. I did start reading it but gave up part way through. Even though it's completely different then Animal farm by George Orwell I found it really hard to get through the few chapters I did read off it

Just One Year
Gayle Forman
Gayle Forman has written one of my all time favorite books (if I stay) and I really liked just one day. But just one year I found hard to read. I didn't like Willem that much in Just One Day and found his side of the story that I read really bland and uninteresting.

All I Know Now
Carrie Hope Fletcher
I have no idea why I didn't finish all I know now. I really enjoyed it but now it's sitting on my shelf with the book mark that I was using in it on the page I was reading. - side note - I was in a goodwill bookstore (goodwill is a thrift store and in the city I live in they have one just for books) there was a copy of all I know now and I picked it up for $4.
