Outrageous Things I’ve Done For My Love Of Books

This is supposed to be Top Ten Tuesday post that should have gone up this month but honestly I couldn’t even think of any outrageous things I’ve one for my love of books.

- Wanting Every Book By An Author
Yes I am that kind of person that I want every book by my Favorite author. But in all reality I can’t afford that and it’s just not an option.

- I Donated Books for More Books
Not outrageous by any means but about 2 years ago I had a massive urge to donate a lot of books. And that I did. I got rid of over 30 books that I had no interest in reading anymore. Since then I’ve had another sort through and a re arrangement of my shelf and donated more books. And I have another set of books I want to donate

- Changing Bookstores
I want books, and a lot of them, but I don’t wanna pay outrageous prices for brand new books so I changed bookstores for the most part. I get books from the main bookstore if they are on sale so I can get points. But more often then not I’ll go and buy books at a thrift store bookstore. I haven’t been to a big chain bookstore in about 2 years I think

How I Edit My Instagram Photos

I absolutely love Instagram. If I am honest it’s my favorite social media I have. And it’s one that I constantly use.

A lot of my photos I do edit. Sometimes way to much. But ya know.

* Photo
So the photo I am showing you is this one that I took last year.

* Filter
I tend to use the same filters all the time. I also use the black and white ones occasionally. Today I used Clarendon. It’s one of if not my most favourite.

* Edit
So I’ll hit the edit button and go through the different setting they have. Depending on the photo depends on how I want it to look.
As you can see I have edited it quite a bit. And again depending on the photo depends on how high or low I want the different settings.

I will always brighten the photo or make it darker using the first editor

* Save
So I’ll always now save my photos before posting because sometimes Instagram won’t save.

My Most Embarrassing Moment

My most embarrassing moment happened when I was about 12 or 13 years old and I was on holiday in probably one of my most favourite places in the uk called Charmouth.

At this campsite it had a playground area with tons of normal playground things and one of those tire rope swing things.

Well it started off with me, dad and our friends that we had gone with with the adults pushing the kids on the tire rope swing then more and more kids starting coming and being pushed on the swing.

I told my dad and our friend I didn’t want to be pushed. Instead they ran the whole length of the rope swing, let go at the end. I went flying into the air holding on to the chain for dear life, and it’s there shaking and I couldn’t hold on any longer and I let go and fell off. The ground was the wood chip soft kinda ground so it didn’t hurt at all. Until I sat up and the seat of the tire swing came and hit me on the forehead

Rainy Day Reads

Ok so I know this is a Top Ten Tuesday but honestly I never seem to have ten books for the list. There is no rhyme or reason why some of these books are on the list. I think they’d make great Reads rain or shine.

- The Devil Wears Prada
The Devil Wears Prada is such a classic in my eyes. It’s one of those books that just comforts you and never gets old no matter how many times you read it. It’s great for a day where its cloudy

- Marshmallows For Breakfast
It’s just one of those books that is great for reading on a rainy day or by the pool in the summer.

- The Ice Cream Girls

- My Best Friends Girl

- One Day
For me I just wanna curl myself up under a blanket on the couch and read One Day.

- The Help

- Harry Potter Series
Depending on what book you are reading I think it’s such a good and simple way to go.

What I Am Reading

Currently I am reading City of Bones. The first book in the Mortal Instruments Series. If I am being honest, and I’ll have a full length review coming when I’ve finished the book, I am struggling a bit The with book. Normally with first books of a series (other than Harry Potter) I really like the first book. But I’m finding it hard. The characters are confusing me, the storyline really doesn’t make sense.

I am going to keep going. I have to because I have the next three to read but it’s hard. And because it’s hard I’m glad that I only got the books for 75 cents.

When I get like this with books I like to read a book that I know and love and didn’t have problem with reading and that I’ve read a few times before. It’s almost like a mini slump and I just have to read something I love to get out of it.

So I am re reading The Ice Cream Girls.

Line of Duty Series 1-4

Ok so last year I tried to get into Line of Duty but couldn’t. This year I forced myself to watch it and I loved it. That I’ve actually watched the first four seasons of it on Netflix twice this year already.

Normally with shows like this I like to do a review on each series individually. But forgot with this one because the first four series I watched in three days.

What I like about Line of Duty is that it focuses on a new corrupt officer each series, yet carries on with storylines of officers from previous series. Such as the Corrupt officer from series one was in it until series three when he was discovered to be corrupt, and though she had her own series Lindsey was a character who had a storyline in the third as well. Also the fact that a missing person from the first series also was mentioned in the fourth.

Series one followed Tony, Series 2 follows Lindsey, series three followed Danny and series four followed Roz.

I love shows like this that keep you on your feet about what can happen.

Goodbye 20’s

Last Friday was my 30th Birthday. And if I am being honest I have mixed emotions. My 20’s started of difficult. But did get better as the decade went on.

- You’ll Never Know How Much Your Mum Does Until It’s To Late
It was pretty soon after my mum died that I realized just how much she did.

- Late 20’s are 100% better than early 20’s
I don’t know if it’s because I lost my mum 10 weeks after my birthday, but I felt my first 2 years of my 20’s were hard and I didn’t enjoy them. When I went to college I started to enjoy them more. But I enjoyed my late 20’s a lot more

- In my 20’s I Realized That Friendships Don’t Last Forever and that’s Ok
Ok so with this it’s kinda a 50/50, I lived in 3 different towns/cities while I was living in England and I knew that some friendships don’t last forever but a lot also do. But I also would say “oh we’re gonna be friends forever” but it didn’t end up that way.

- But On The Flip Side I Was A Lot Better At Cutting Out Toxic Friends.
In my teens I wanted tons of friends but in my 20’s I realized that maybe some of those friendships weren’t the best and cutting them off was the best idea.

- My 20’s Taught Me To Love Myself More
My 20’s taught me that I can love myself. That I am ok and that no one can ever tell me otherwise. I learned it when I was about 14, but like most teenagers I didn’t believe it was ok to love myself.

- That It’s OK Not To Have My Own Opinions
In this age of social media is always easy to get lost in what other people believe in. I have learned especially in my late 20’s that I have my own opinions and it’s ok to have them

- Social Media
Yes I am in the social media generation. But when social media first came out it was MySpace, Bebo and MSN messenger. And really I didn’t use them that much. And look how well they ended up. I started having and activity using social media in my late teens early 20’s. And my Facebook is literally a mess.

Stand Alone Books That Need Sequels

These books for me are ones that I wish had sequels because I think they are brilliant

* My Best Friends Girl
My Best Friends Girl is honestly one of my favourite books of all time, and every time I read it I’m left wondering what’s happened to Kamryn, Tegan, Luke and Nate, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It’s a book that I cannot get enough of, and with how beautifully it’s written, and how strong Kamryn and Tegan are I always wonder where their lives have ended up, what they’ve done, and where they are going.

The Ice Cream Girls
With The Ice Cream Girls I’ve always wanted to see if Poppy and Serena could work things out and possibly be on friendly terms. I don’t ever expect them to be friends but at least work it out to a point where if they happened to be in a social circle together they could be civil together.

 Marshmallows For Breakfast
I love the book obviously but I always wonder when I finish reading it,
1. Does Kendra go back to Australia
2. Did she stay
3. Did Will move to the UK
4. The kids
5. Did Ashlyn beat her demons
Though I think it’s a brilliant book and really doesn’t need a second book I always wonder.

* My Life Next Door
The book is a perfect stand alone book and really there shouldn’t be another just for the sake of it but I wonder what happened to Samantha and Jase’s relationship

* Safe Haven
Just like My Life Next Door, I think Safe Haven is perfect as one book, but it’s such a good book that I would have liked it to have carried on and seen how the relationships within the book goes.

* One Day
We know 20 years of their lives and we finally see them happy but for some reason I want to see how Dexter carries on without Emma.

* The Brighton Mermaid

3 Books That Should Be Stand Alone

* Just One Day
I have both books and though it gets off to a slow start it’s really good by the end. Personally I don’t think that Just One Year is good enough. I haven’t read it all the way through but I felt that JOY, was written just to be written and Just One Day would have been better on its own

* Twilight
I don’t think Twilight should have gotten a sequel because it went down hill from there.

* To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

TATBILB is the only book I’ve read in the series and I think it was awful. Even though it was an awful book I don’t do think it ended on a good note.

5 Things That Make Me Pick Up A Book and 5 That Will Hold Me Back

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday. This week is all on things that make me pick up a book. I put a twist and did 5 things that makes me pick up a book and 5 on things that I avoid

- The Author
If I’ve read a book by the author before and liked it then I will happily buy more of that authors books.

I’ve done it with Dorothy Koomson, Nicholas Sparks, Cecelia Ahern, Jodi Pilcoult, John Green, JK Rowling.

- The Cover
I don’t tend to judge a book on its cover but sometimes I totally do. Ok like 80% of the time is all about a cover. It’s the first thing you see.

- Genre
Curtain books in curtain genres I’ll happily pick up that book.

- Price
I am someone who loves getting books at a lower price.

HOLD ME BACK

- The Popularity
It doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t get the book. It means it will be a while.

- The Author
Even though in the first part I said about always getting more books by the same author over time I have realized that my reading style has changed a lot.

- Genre
I had a phase where I wanted to get into classic books and brought some and realized I’m not much of a fan of classics.

- Ebook, Audible
I am someone who really hates anything that isn’t an actual physical copy of a book. I like holding a book. I am such a visual reader that I need the actual book in front of me.

March 2019 Wrap Up

Books Read: 2 and a half
Book Challenge Complete % 30%
Am I Ahead? And By How Many Books: Yes and by 2 books.

Basically the two books that I have read this month are the two books that have put me ahead. I also have said I’ve read two and half books is because I am about halfway through City of Bones which is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series.

I’m not going to lie but this month has been a really hard month for me reading wise. I’ve literally had no desire to read and have been pushing myself to read. I read Goodnight, Beautiful by Dorothy Koomson really quick because I love her writing style.

Anyone who knows me knows I struggle with classic books. Of any kind it seems. That was also the case with The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank.

Goodnight, Beautiful
Seriously I think it’s such an underrated book. It’s so completely different than any other Dorothy Koomson book that I’ve read.

A Diary of a Young Girl
I know this is such a classic book but I didn’t like it.
