The Help, set in 1960’s Jackson Missippi USA, is one of those books that is a modern classic book and will be a book that will be taught in schools in like 30 years time.

As I have said countless of times before I am not a massive fan of Multiple characters narrating a book but it works really well in The Help, and I figured out why. The chapters are longer then in most multiple characters narrating, that you can still get used to the characters in the two chapters they have. It’s equaled out nice that you don’t feel that the characters are rushing in telling their stories, or you have to remember what they said before. You can get used to how each character speaks, Acts and conducts themselves without having to change the font of the text.

What I love about the book is that it’s trying to break the stereotypes that happened in that time, and that area and that not all people believe in the same way. It’s a book that shows diversity when there wasn’t any. It’s breaking down stereotypes of both black and white people. That black people are nice and shouldn’t be treated the way that they were, and that there are some white people at that time who think and act different then other white people.

Something that I noticed in the book is that some of the whole families are actually kind of caring. Not massively but still have some sense of decorum. Like helping one of the help when her grandson was injured. Or inviteing then to weddings. But like most things it’s on their terms.

It’s a book that I feel that is needed, not only to show how much had changed in almost 60 years, but that we can still keep changing our views on how we treat people that are different then we are.

It’s a book that has opened my eyes and made me laugh, cry, love, hate, and want to wrap my arms around those who have struggled.

I know that it was the time when people used words against black people. But I hate the term "high yellow". It’s just as derogatory as any other racist words.

One person who I did feel for throughout the book was Elizabeth. While I think she could have been a better mother to her children and a better person to Aibileen she was 100% influenced by Hilly, she knew deep down that what Hilly was doing wasn’t right, you could tell she was uncomfortable with situations that surrounded her when Hilly was speaking and that her views were completely diff

Couldn’t Finish

Today’s post is all about four books I couldn’t Finish.

Just Listen
Sarah Dessen
Just listen is the first book I read or tried to by Sarah Dessen and I just couldn’t do it no matter how much I tried to. I was always confused by the changing of time lines which at the best of times in other books I get confused. In Just Listen it’s not defined by a time or date.

Vanishing Acts
Jodi Pilcoult
I wanted to love a book by Jodi Pilcoult but o got part way through and just felt as if it was going no where. I didn’t connect with any of the characters. Jodi is notorious for having multiple characters.

Change of Heart
Jodi Pilcoult
In think it’s something about Jodi’s writing I just don’t like. And the fact that she has so many freaking characters that have their own short chapters. I felt that with this book that there was way to many characters that yes were involved with some of the book but not massively having way to many chapters

Just One Year
Gayle Forman
Honestly I think she should have made the Just One Duology just a stand alone book. I think it would have been better. I know that Gayle Forman is known for her works where she has two prospectives. But Just One Year was way off the mark in my opinion from what I read.

Books I Want To Read Before 2019

I have a long list of books on my TBR, but these five are ones I want to read before the year is out

* The Help
Ok so I am kinda cheating on this one as I am currently Reading the book. I’m not struggling with it as much as I have in the past.

* The Choice
    - Nicholas Sparks
This is is one of two Nicholas Sparks books I have left to read. Earlier this year I went through such a faze of reading his books that I owned that I decided I wanted to read them all this year. Which is only two books.

* At First Sight
The second of Nicholas Sparks that I want to read by the end of the year.

* Just One Year
I’ve had trouble reading the book in the past, I just find Willems story a bit to much that I can’t finish the book. But I am hoping that I can read it because I loved Allyson’s story.

Top 7 Books For Transitioning

Today’s post is all about books that I think are perfect for people to read when they want to start reading less Young Adult books and more Adult books.

*by transitioning I mean from YA based books to more adult books*

My Best Friends Girl
Such a beautiful, sweet, loving, yet heartbreaking book about adoption, racism, illness, forgiveness, moving on, and death. Even though some of the topics are hard it’s a great book. It’s a book that makes you feel empowered for all involved. It also makes you feel heartbroken for everybody involved (apart from Adele’s father and step mother. Read the book and you’ll understand)

The Devil Wears Prada
If you only know Lauren Wiesburger by the movie adaption of the book (which is is a great movie) you’ll love the book. Based loosely on Lauren’s own experiences working in the fashion industry. It’s one of those books that’s great for both teenagers that want to go out of their comfort zone

The Ice Cream Girls
It’s an known fact that teachers and students shouldn’t date. What’s great about this book is it shows just what can happen if that happens and it goes wrong. That everyone’s life can and will be forever effected everyone.

The Lucky One
What I love about The Lucky One is that it shows determination and love when you think that it’s all gone.

* The Help
I didn’t know I needed this book in my life until I read it. It’s one of those books that you know it happened, and it’s happened a long time ago, but in reality it’s still happening. And it wasn’t that long ago. People are just more aware of it. It’s one of those books that I think everyone should read at some point in their lives.

* One Day
One Day is such a beautiful book. It shows that people can be friends without the extra romance for many years.

* Safe Haven
I have such a love hate relationship with Nicholas Sparks books, and this is one that I think is perfect.
