$3 for 4 Books. Benefits of Bargin Hunting

Yes that’s right. 4 books for $3. City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass and Ciry of Fallen Angels cost me $3.

What would have been $62 (that’s with the Ontario Taxes) cost me $3 with no taxes.

This is what I love about book shopping. While I love the big book stores, I also love looking around thrift stores for books. Teen Challenge is super close to where I live. I can walk there in 20 minutes or less. It’s literally up the street from me.

For me personally I am someone who isn’t a fan of buying books when they’re super popular and have a lot of high recommendations. I’ve learnt from my mistakes. I find that buying books when everyone recommends them I’m don’t like them as much. So when the hype is over and I find them cheaper I’m happy.

Teen Challenge vs Goodwill Bookstore

While both book stores are great, there are some pros and cons for them. They aren’t massive ones where I’ll stop using them.

Teen Challenge is great for prices. They are 75 cents compared to $3-$4 at goodwill but goodwill do have a better selection and is more organized.

Books I Thought I’d Hate But Ended Up Loving March 27 T5W

The thing with me is that I have found that when people rave about books at the same time I don’t like them as much. I like to read books without people influence on them.

My Life Next Door
When I got the book I thought it would be just a cute little book to read as a filler book. I’d not enjoy it that much. But then I read it after reading a book I hated and I fell in love with it. It is a cute book, and filled with stereotypical people and teenage problems but for some reason I absolutely love it.

The Great Gatsby
If you know anything about me I am not a massive fan of classics. I own so many and literally have read 2, and only love one and that’s The Great Gatsby. I don’t normally like to watch a movie before reading the book because I don’t like to spoil it for myself but with The Great Gatsby it wasn’t ruined at all for me.

One Day
One Day was a book I wasn’t to sure about. It’s a book that you either love or hate. For me I loved it way more than I thought I would. I would say though is definitely read the book before the movie.

The Help
The Help for me is one that I thought I would totally hate. But I loved with all my heart ❤️ ❤️. I tried to read it a few times before I actually read it all the way through and those times that I kept putting it down and ignoring it and not finishing it I still loved it. It’s a book that I keep close to my heart.

Books To Movies

I am someone who likes to read the book before seeing the movie. There have been times when I’ve seen the movie before the book.

There are always points that I look for when I’ve read the book and it’s being turned into a movie, If the characters are what I imagined is a big thing for me.

This is going to be a Long post and is broken down in to three parts. Books to movies I’ve seen, books to movies I haven’t seen and books to movies that I am currently watching.

- Harry Potter
I am a Potter head. I love the books, the movies, etc. It was the first series that I remember actually loving. It was also the first book series that before the movies came out I could see what the charters would look like in the movies.

- The Great Gatsby
I saw the movie before I’d ever read the book, so when it came to reading the book I was nervous about reading it. I was nervous about seeing the actors who played characters while reading the book, I was nervous that I wouldn’t like the book., and with my history of hating classic books I was nervous that I just wouldn’t like it. But none of those things happened. The characters were there own, I didn’t see the actors. I loved the book, even with my history of hating classics.

- The Help
When a book gets turned into a movie there will always be those little details in the book that the movie doesn’t show, but for me I absolutely love both book and movie.

- One Day
One Day is another book where I saw the movie before I read the book but both I think are just as good as each other.

- The Fault in our Stars
If I’m being honest I liked the book a lot when I first read it, it’s a book that I think now had a lot of hype around it, and it wasn’t as good as it could have been. It’s not a bad book or movie, it’s just that I’ve changed

- Safe Haven
Safe Haven is one of my favourite books ever. I fell in love the first time I read it, and love it even more every time I reread. I like the movie.

- The Lucky One
If I’m honest I absolutely loved the book way more than I loved the movie. I did see the movie before I read the book but loved the book so much more

- The Devil Wears Prada
One of my favourite books to movies ever. I absolutely love both the book and the movie of TDWP, it’s such a cheesy book and movie and I just love it.

- Twilight Saga
The twilight Saga could be in a few different categories but I’m putting it here. I am such a potter head that reading the books then Watching the movies I was disappointed by both. I watched the first three movies and have read all the books and felt that they didn’t bring much to me. I was disappointed by the characters and the storylines got weaker over time.

Currently Watching

- Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

I’ve started watching it but I haven’t finished it yet. I’m dragging it out. And Canada’s Netflix has put on Harry Potter 5-7 part 2, and I’ve watched them and other things but haven’t gotten around to finishing Fantastic Beasts.

Read But Not Seen

It’s not that I don’t want to see the movie versions of the book, it’s just I didn’t like the book enough to actually sit and watch a hour and half plus movie.
- Paper Towns
- To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
- If I Stay

Neither Read or Seen

- Hunger Games
I was never really interested in the hunger games.

- Maze Runner
At one point I wanted to read the Maze Runner Books but I kinda grew out of wanting to. I have no interest in watching the movies.

tbr

I don’t have a lot of books that I necessarily want to read over the spring. Most of the books on this list I’ve read before. But I wanted to do a ‘mass market’ kinda spring TBR. And these are my only mass market books. Also I’m not limiting myself just to these 4 books either.

- The Diary of a Young Girl
    - Anne Frank
So I know I’m going to struggle reading this book, so it will be a book that I take my time on, and read through out spring and maybe summer.

- Dear John
    - Nicholas Sparks

- The Notebook
    - Nicholas Sparks
If you know anything about me you’ll know I hated this book when I read it last year. But I’m willing to give it ago again this year to see if my views have changed on it. My views about the book were because I don’t like the movie.

- The Pact
    - Jodi Pilcoult

- City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels
    - Cassandra Clare
I recently got these books. For 75 cents each. I mean you can’t beat that kind of bargain can you.

10 Songs I Love || Week 11

Music is something that makes me who I am. I can’t hold a note to save my life. But as soon as a song comes on. I’m hocked.

My iTunes is full of music 🎵 and I have so many playlists. Someone of my playlists are the UK version of Now That’s What I Call Music. Some are random and when I want curtain songs I put them in playlists. Others are curtain songs by a particular artist.

1. As You Are (Rag ‘n’ Bone Man)

2. Skins (Rag ‘n’ Bone Man)

3. Human (Rag ‘n’ Bone Man)

4. Rise and Fall (Craig David & Sting)

5. Happier (Ed Sheran)

6. Here Comes The Sun (The Beatles)

7. Misundazood (P!nk)

8. Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)

9. Dancing on my Own (Calum Scott)

10. Please Don’t Say You Love Me (Gabrielle Aplin)

Characters That Embody Your Hogwarts House

I am a Ravenclaw and there are so many great characters out there that would fit into being a Ravenclaw so well.

Intelligence
The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skill
Nell in The Brighton Mermaid. Her abilities would be an amazing for a Ravenclaw

Creativity
The use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work
Miranda Priestly though a bitch and would get along well in Slytherin, I still think she would be perfect in how her creativity would work as a Ravenclaw.

Learning
Acquisition of knowledge or skills through experience, study, or by being taught
Hermione would be such a great Ravenclaw. If the golden trio were ever in another house I believe Hermione would be such a great fit for Ravenclaw.

Wit
Mental sharpness and inventiveness
Jay Gatsby. For the simple fact that he did his best to see Daisy without actually being forward enough to be involved in her daily life.

International Woman’s Day

Today being international Woman’s Day I want to celebrate the most amazing women, who have impacted me and my life.

My Mum
My mum was an amazing person, who put up with all the shit that I threw at her as a teenager. How she dealt with me when I look back at how I was I’ll never know.

Dorothy Koomson
For me Dorothy Koomson is my favourite author as an adult. Her books (as stupid as this sounds) speak to me, she has a way of writing where I can get lost reading.

Pink
For me Pink has changed my whole life. Her music is one where I can just sing and feel good about myself. I love that she stands up for herself and isn’t afraid to stand up for her self. Because of her I have been able love myself again.

Characters I’d Love To Trade Places With

I have no idea how to even approach this Top Ten Tuesday post, so it’s not super long or even have 10

- Angelica Johnson
* Harry Potter
I am such a big lover of the Weasley Twins, that I would love to trade places with Angelica.

- Nell
* The Brighton Mermaid
I love True Crime things so I’d love to trade places with Nell so I could find out about the Brighton Mermaid, and help find people’s loved once.

- Poppy
* The Ice Cream Girls
I don’t know why I like Poppy so much, but I think she is such a great character.

- Katie
* Safe Haven
I don’t want the Katie who had had to change her name and run away from her husband, I want the Katie who is

- Emily
* Since You’ve Been Gone
I love characters who are pushed out of their comfort zones by their friends.

Week 9 Pet Peves: Name Edition

My name is really popular, in fact in my year at school at one high school I was one of 4 Lauren’s. And the second high school I was one of 7/8 Lauren’s. One of the funnies stories from that second high school was that there were 3 Lauren’s in my German class, and we were one after the other on the register.

In the year I was born Lauren was the 9th most popular name. Since then it’s gone from a top 10 name to just scraping into the top 150 in 2017 at number 148. Even my dads name is more popular than my name in 2017.

Most of my life I’ve had very few people actually call me Lauren.

Pet Peves
1. Being called Laura
One of the most popular names I get called is Laura. I’ve had it for almost 19 years since starting high school in September 2000. I’ve had people at school, college, jobs, at doctors offices, and other places calling me Laura. And this the biggest pet peeve that I have. Thankfully it’s not on things such as my passport or health card or any important documents like that, but I really dislike the name Laura. I understand it though. Having the same first four letters, but I have 6 in my name where Laura has five.

2. People spelling it wrong
There are many ways to spell my name, but I have the most popular way of spelling it. I can understand if people spell my name the Italian way Lauryn (I don’t mind it, in fact I’ll take the Italian way of spelling my name over being called Laura). But any other way of spelling my name is so wrong. I’ve had people want to spell it Loren, like in Sophia Loren, Lauran, Laurin,

3. People calling me every other L Name
I had this a lot with my second high school, where after I was permanently excluded they’d call up my house and ask if I was coming into school. Even when I left school in 2005, they’d call my parents and ask if I was coming to school. This lasted for a good two and half years from leaving school and moving to Canada. I’ve had Lucy, Leanne, Lydia, and obviously Laura.

4. I Hate The Nickname Loz
Loz is such a popular nickname for Lauren, and for 6 years it was one that I had. But honestly I hate it. I much prefer Lozy if people want to use Loz as a nickname.

My Nicknames

I have lots of nicknames, and people hardly ever call me Lauren. I’ve had one nickname that has grown with me, when I was younger I was called Lollypop, as I got a little older I was called Lolly, and now I am mainly called Lol, which is what a lot of people call me and I answer to the most.

My dad sometimes calls me Doris or George. Which I find brilliant I love it.
